With Spring Often Comes Allergies… But What Is Your Body Really Telling You?

There’s something about spring that feels so alive…

The trees begin to bloom. The air shifts. We spend more time outside, soaking in the sunshine after a long winter.

And yet… for many people, this is also the time when allergies begin to show up.

Low energy. Head pressure. Congestion. Skin flare-ups. A general sense that something just isn’t quite right.

But what if allergies aren’t the problem?

What if this season is simply revealing how well the body is able to adapt, clear, and respond?

Because the truth is… your body is always working for you.

And during seasonal transitions, it’s simply being asked to do a little more.

⸻

🌱 The Body is Adapting,

Not Failing

As we move from winter into spring, your body is navigating a shift in:

• Temperature

• Light exposure

• Environmental load (pollen, dust, and other triggers)

• Activity levels

This creates what we call a seasonal stressor.

Not a problem… just a demand.

And when the body is supported, it adapts beautifully.

But when key systems are sluggish or overwhelmed… that’s when allergy symptoms tend to show up more intensely.

⸻

🌿 The Liver – Your Internal Filter

The liver plays a central role in how your body handles seasonal changes—and how it responds during allergy season.

It is responsible for:

• Filtering toxins

• Processing hormones

• Breaking down environmental exposures

When the liver is supported, the body can efficiently process what it’s exposed to.

But when it’s sluggish…

• Things begin to “back up”

• The body looks for other ways to eliminate

• Symptoms can show up in the skin, sinuses, or energy levels

This is often when people begin to notice more sensitivity during allergy season.

This is why spring is such a powerful time to gently support liver function.

⸻

🌿 The Lymphatic System – The Overlooked Drainage Pathway

If the liver is the filter… the lymphatic system is the drainage.

This system helps:

• Move waste out of the body

• Support immune function

• Reduce congestion and stagnation

But unlike the heart, the lymphatic system doesn’t have a pump.

It relies on movement.

Which means:

• Sitting too much

• Lack of hydration

• Minimal activity

…can slow this system down.

And when lymph isn’t flowing well, the body can feel:

• Puffy

• Sluggish

• Congested

This can contribute to that “stuck” feeling many people notice during allergy season.

Simple things like walking, stretching, and deep breathing can make a profound difference here.

⸻

🌿 The Gut + Immune Connection

Many people don’t realize that a large portion of the immune system lives in the gut.

When the gut is supported:

• The body responds more appropriately to environmental triggers

• Inflammation is better regulated

• Resilience improves

But when the gut is irritated or imbalanced…

The body may overreact to things it would normally tolerate—which can show up as heightened allergy symptoms.

This is why what you eat during seasonal transitions matters more than you think.

⸻

🌿 The Spleen – Building Strength from Within

In the work I do, I often see the spleen play a quiet—but powerful—role in how the body handles seasonal stress, including during allergy season.

In traditional and whole-body approaches to health, the spleen is associated with:

• Immune strength

• Nutrient assimilation

• Energy production

• The body’s ability to stay grounded and resilient

When the spleen is supported, the body feels:

• Nourished

• Steady

• More adaptable to change

But when it’s weakened…

• The body can feel tired or heavy

• More reactive to environmental triggers

• Craving quick energy (like sugar or processed foods)

• Easily overwhelmed during seasonal shifts

I often describe the spleen as the system that helps us “hold it all together”—especially when the outside world is changing.

⸻

🌱 How We Support the Spleen

Unlike quick fixes, spleen support is built through daily nourishment and rhythm.

Simple ways to support this system include:

• Warm, nourishing foods like soups, stews, and cooked vegetables

• Whole, real carbohydrates like potatoes, rice, and root vegetables

• Regular meal timing

• Reducing overthinking and mental overload

Sometimes what we label as “allergy season”…

Is really the body asking for more nourishment, rhythm, and internal support.

⸻

✨ Targeted Support When Needed

In some cases, I find that the body benefits from more targeted support—especially when someone is feeling consistently depleted or struggling through allergy season.

In my practice, I will often use whole food-based support for the spleen, such as desiccated spleen and Spleen PMG.

These are designed to gently support the body’s ability to build resilience, strengthen immune response, and improve overall vitality.

I don’t use these as a quick fix…

but as a way to support what the body is already trying to do.

⸻

🌿 Simple Ways to Support Your Body This Spring

This doesn’t have to be complicated.

In fact, the body responds best to simple, consistent support—especially during allergy season.

A few foundational habits:

• Stay well hydrated

• Incorporate bitter foods like leafy greens, herbs, and lemon

• Move your body daily—even a simple walk outside

• Reduce processed foods

• Get natural light early in the day

These small shifts can make a big difference in how your body responds to seasonal changes.

⸻

🌿 When the Body Needs Extra Support

For some, adding targeted support during seasonal transitions can make a meaningful difference.

This isn’t about chasing allergy symptoms…

it’s about supporting the systems that help the body adapt.

In my own routine, I tend to support the liver, the body’s natural response to environmental stress, and overall drainage pathways—especially during allergy season.

This is where I often incorporate whole food-based support like Antronex and AllergCo as we move into spring.

I don’t wait until my body is struggling…

I support it as the season shifts.

And just like everything else, this is always individualized based on what the body needs.

⸻

🌿 Closing Thoughts

Spring is a season of renewal.

And your body is designed to move with that rhythm… not fight against it.

So instead of asking,

“What’s wrong with me?”

Try asking,

“How can I support my body through this season?”

Because when you do…

Everything begins to feel a little lighter. A little clearer. A little more aligned.
